This is my third time as a Governor at the school the first being in 1985, as a Parent Governor, for five years and in 2010 as a Co-opted Governor for seven years. In the second period I was Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Finance Committee using my 52 years’ experience in producing management accounts to oversee the school finances before retiring from these roles in 2017 which also coincided with me retiring from work and becoming an OAP.
Both of my children attended the school, as well as three of my six grandchildren so as you can see, I have had along association with the school, as has my wife Sue who worked there for twenty-seven years as an HLTA and over this time we have helped on many school trips and residentials.
I was invited to return as the LEA Governor in 2022 which came as a surprise to me, but I was happy to accept the invitation.
On a personal note, I am keen on sports mainly Cricket and Football and have followed Leicester City since 1958 and so lucky to have seen them win all the major competitions.
The role of a School Governor has evolved over the years, but I continue to enjoy the role and would encourage anyone who has an interest in seeing the school and the children succeed, then becoming School Governor is a path to help that.
