Welcome

Co-Head Teachers Welcome

Welcome to Latimer Primary School. We are a growing school in the heart of Anstey on the Leicester City and Leicestershire border. Anstey is a large suburb in the Charnwood area, with both new housing and families that have resided in the area for generations.

We are a ‘happy and harmonious’ school who place children, parents and families at the heart of everything we do. Our staff go the extra mile so learning can flourish and all pupils can achieve their full potential.

Our children are proud to be Latimer Pupils and our families value the safe community approach that our school has. Our ethos of ‘Developing Responsibility; Caring About Achievement’ is central to everything that we do and our ‘Simple Truths’ provide our children with core values for their futures. Our aim is that all of our children leave us as responsible members of the community with the knowledge that their future lies in their hands.

Our curriculum provision reflects this ethos of responsibility with study of areas that support children to build their knowledge of how to live and contribute to the wider community. Climate is a thread that runs throughout our Geography curriculum whilst rulers and responsibility is a concept studied through the History curriculum. Our children have opportunities to take responsibility throughout the school in different ways such as Eco-Committee, School Council and sports leaders.

Our children’s learning is enriched through experiences such as visiting the Madhir Temple in Leicester; hearing from the Grandson of Alice Hawkins one of the founders of the suffragette movement and exploring coastal erosion whilst on residential in Norfolk.

The behaviour at our school is excellent and where children need support our Simple Truths remind our pupils the expectations for behaviour and how to live as part of our school community.

We are excited that you want to find out more about Latimer and encourage you to visit our vibrant and friendly school.
