Welcome to Latimer Primary School. We are a growing school on the Leicester City / Leicestershire border. Anstey is a large suburb in the Charnwood area, with both new housing and families that have resided in the area for generations.
We are a ‘happy and harmonious’ school who place children and families at the heart of everything we do. Our staff go the extra mile so learning may flourish and all pupils can achieve their full potential.
Our children are proud to be Latimer pupils and our families value the safe, supportive approach that our school has. Our ethos of ‘Developing Responsibility; Caring About Achievement’ is central to everything we do and our school values, ‘the Simple Truths’, provide core moral principles to live by in modern Britain. Our aim is that all pupils leave Latimer as responsible individuals and members of their community, ready for secondary school with their minds full of happy memories and future aspirations, having achieved their true potential with us.
Our curriculum provision reflects this ethos of responsibility with study of areas that support children to build their knowledge of how to live and contribute to the wider community. Learning is enriched through experiences such as visiting the local Mandir temple; hearing from the grandson of Alice Hawkins, one of the founders of the suffragette movement; and exploring coastal erosion through fieldwork on residential in Norfolk. Climate is a thread that runs throughout our Geography curriculum, whilst ‘rulers and responsibility’ is a concept studied through our History curriculum. Our children also have opportunities to take responsibility throughout the school in different ways such as Eco-Committee, School Council and sports leaders.
Our pupils are wonderful and our staff work incredibly hard to ensure excellence and enjoyment in all aspects of school life.
We are excited that you want to find out more about Latimer and encourage you to visit our vibrant and friendly school.
